The Government Owes You a LOT of Money

Here's a little known fact that the federal government really does not want you to know - by law, all government agencies must pay market rents for their federal facilities, paid into the Federal Buildings Fund. All 9600 of them, including the DOJ, the Treasury and every property under government control. And in 2019, those combined rents total $11.1 BILLION.

Now think about that - these rents are for properties owned by We, the People. We are the "government of, by and for" the people. We own everything the government controls. That technically makes us the landlord. And the last time I looked, the landlord is supposed to get the rent, and not some government run fund. Did you get YOUR rent check from the EPA this month? Or the F.B.I.?

If we are not getting the rent from our properties, who is?

All that money gets paid to a variety of REIT's - Real Estate Investment Trusts. And much of it is then paid out as dividends to the people who invest in those trusts. In other words, if you buy into the trusts, you can get a share. And the rest of us "landlords" get nothing. It's a rigged game. And, as usual, it's rigged against the "little guy". REIT investors get not only their share of the rents, but your share, as well.

Worse yet  - those rents are paid out from TAXPAYER money! Our taxes are given to the agencies to build the buildings, run them, maintain them and ultimately used to pay the rent to those select few who are invested in REITS.

Imagine for a moment that you own a property on Main Street. You PAY the tenant to live there. He then pays the rent from the money you gave him to some "trust", and those funds are distributed as dividends to investors in that trust. And you get nothing. Not only do you get nothing, it was YOUR money that PAID the rent on YOUR OWN PROPERTY!

That doesn't make you a landlord - it makes you a sucker.

Frankly, those rents belong to ALL American citizens, regardless of our ability to pay for a place on the "dividend distribution list". Landlords should not have to pay for the privilege of collecting rents on the properties they own, and if they don't pay they cannot collect any rent.

It is a shifty, shady redistribution of our taxes, taken from millions of little guys and paid to a handful of big guys.

So, now you are one of the few who know what is going on.
