It appears that the new RNC chair, Michael Steele, has announced the RNC plans to run other Republicans against Snowe, Collins and Specter for their decision to be the only Republicans to vote for the porky Stimulus Bill, which ran contrary to Republican beliefs and mores.
Snowe complained to Steele, so he is willing to talk with all three.
But the point is clear - if a Republican is not going to ACT like a Republican, they cannot expect support of the RNC. Unlike individual senators or representatives, the RNC must concern itself with the goals of the party, rather than the goals of the individual politician.
Democrats also have their own rogues, like Bayh and Feingold. However, in their cases, they are not diametrically opposing their core party principles, as the three Republicans did. So it is unlikely they will be ostracized by the DNC.
